Big Art Garment, Winter 2021

A work of speculative design, this work explores an alternative future in which “Big Tech” is replaced with “Big Art.” The work is recreating a costume design by Oskar Schlemmer, who was a prominent artist of the Bauhaus school. By creating a piece of clothing imitating Schlemmer’s designs, the artist aims to imagine a world in which Bauhaus has mass control over design and aesthetic industries, which is similar to how companies such as Amazon and Facebook have control over society through the tech industry.
