My CrossWall Hanging, Fall 2022
A work developed at the University of Washington exploring alternative forms of data display and biases in data collection. The artist records the experience of wearing a gold cross necklace that was gifted to her from her grandfather (e.g. she records when she touches the necklace or places it under her shirt) and displays the data as strings of eggs, each representing a one-day period. The work pays homage to notions of family, heritage, and the Russian Orthodox religon, bringing these concepts to the forefront of how the self manifests in data.
